Crypto card cashback: entry rate, maximum rate and net value explained

4 min read

Cashback has a simple surface: spend a hundred, get a percentage back. The card terms underneath can be much less simple. The useful question is what you are likely to receive after the conditions and costs that come with that percentage.

Entry rate is the starting point

The entry rate is the reward available without an unusually large token balance, an expensive membership or a temporary campaign. It is the fairest number for comparing a new user’s ordinary card spend.

A maximum rate can still matter if you already meet its conditions. It should be read as a conditional tier, not as a baseline return.

The reward currency changes the trade-off

A reward paid in a volatile token may rise or fall after it is earned. Stablecoin or fiat-style rewards reduce that specific price exposure, but they do not remove card, issuer or custody risk.

We label the reward type on each card so that a percentage is not mistaken for the same economic outcome across every programme.

Calculate the whole spending path

Add the annual fee, foreign-exchange charges, conversion costs and any required locked capital to your decision. A high reward on domestic spending can be outweighed by one expensive part of the path you use frequently.

Use the comparison as a first pass, then read the issuer’s current terms. CryptoCardFinder does not provide investment, tax or legal advice.
